Keeping students in education - resources

Order education resources to support healthy approaches to addressing alcohol and other drugs in schools. Resource order form

Research shows that a young person’s engagement in education and connection to their school is one of the most important protective factors in their lives. For any student that uses substances in a way that causes harm it is vital they get support as early as possible. It's also vital people understand short-term and long-term risk and delay making choices to use substances for as long possible.

Every student will face a decision whether or not to use alcohol or other drugs so we need to do everything to ensure people make healthy choices. The Drug Foundation is working with treatment provider Odyssey Auckland to promote effective ways of responding to drug issues. A suite of initiatives clustered under a Whole Schools approach is being promoted as framework for schools to adopt.

Resources listed here are freely available to school leadership, counsellors, organisations working with young people and community members. Digital and hardcopy versions are available.

Did you know? series

Having conversations with a young person about drugs and alcohol can really help them. Using these resources is way of letting people know that it is ok to talk to you about drugs and alcohol if any issues arise, and to ask for help if they are worried.
