Part-time Community Activator

A unique opportunity to use your experience and connection with communities, coupled with the facts, to help people who use drugs prevent harm. Are you passionate about sharing information and connecting with people without judgement?  Want to help us make engaging and relatable content for people who use drugs in Aotearoa? Think, with our support, you could proudly stand strong as a visible harm reduction ambassador?

This opportunity is for you.

We have a team of people who help provide harm reduction advice online, gather and share a diverse range of experiences, and deliver engaging drug checking clinics for people who use drugs in Aotearoa. People who are familiar with how New Zealanders use drugs, probably have their own experiences, and can genuinely talk about real-life ways to prevent problems from developing.

Our Community Activators are people who:

  • Are passionate about preventing and reducing drug harm.
  • Understand how sharing information and connecting with people without judgement can help them make their own choices.
  • Can engage people – you’re probably a person that people already look to for ideas or inspiration.
  • Are excited by new challenges, including how to use our tech to check what is actually in a person’s drugs.
  • Love working as part of a team
  • Are curious, love to listen, and are happy to be ‘in the grey-zone’
  • Are committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and equity for Māori health.

We want people from a variety of backgrounds, communities, and experiences. We are looking for applicants in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) that can primarily work at our drug checking clinics.

We are an equal opportunities employer and we welcome applications from diverse backgrounds to apply.
